Cabin Makeover Project: The MainRoom Reveal

Updated: Feb 17

I'm back with the second reveal of our Wisconsin cabin project. This unique project started at the beginning of the year, which is why it is so exciting to share all the final images with you. Before you jump into the after pictures, be sure you saw the before pictures because the transformation is going to shock you!

When you enter the cabin through the front door, you enter into the Living Room, a generous space with lots of windows and the hub of the home. From there, you can walk back to the dining space and the kitchen area that is open to the main space, making it extra easy to feel connected no matter what you're doing.

We decided to keep the walls a light color that flows throughout the main living space to maximize the views and natural light. However, it is a cabin, meaning there will be dirty shoes and hands, sand, and snow moving through here, so we need the colors to work for us, hiding scuffs, handprints, and foot traffic. That same "work for us" mentality can be found in all the furnishings, including performance fabric on the sofa, low pile printed rug, removable and machine washable covers, and vintage pieces that only get better with use.

While the kitchen and dining nook are getting their finishing touches and therefore not included in these photos, I can share the beverage bar that we added in this space. I'm sure you've noticed that beverage bars are having their moment right now, and it totally makes sense as a way to keep both the mingling people with their drinks and the counter space consumed in its own area of the kitchen. A friend rescued this antique cabinet with a marble top from a flea market and then handed it down to the cabin when she no longer had space for it. Lucky us, it fits almost perfectly in this spot (Where it will stay because ooftah it was heavy!) The shelves are made from reclaimed wood supported by new brackets, all set to serve its guests.

I am so grateful for this project; it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my year and I hope you enjoyed seeing it. If you're interested in seeing it in real life, send me a message, as it will be part-time AirBnB.

XOXO
